Account & Data Deletion
You have the right to request deletion of your personal data. This page explains how to close your PayPit account and exercise your right to be forgotten under the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023.
How to request deletion
- Send an email from your registered account to privacy@paypit.ng (or support@paypit.ng).
- Use the subject line: Account Deletion Request.
- Include your registered email and phone number for verification.
What happens next
- We verify the request to protect against unauthorized deletion.
- We close the account and remove personal data tied to your profile.
- Connected bank data obtained via Mono Connect and payment records from Mono DirectPay are deleted from PayPit systems, subject to any lawful retention requirements.
- Where legally required (for example, tax audit or fraud prevention), limited records may be retained for the minimum period permitted by law.
Timeline
We process valid deletion requests within 30 days, unless a shorter period is required by the NDPA or GAID 2025. Where processing purpose is complete, we aim to delete data within six (6) months unless a legal justification requires longer retention.
Your other rights
In addition to deletion, you may request access, correction, restriction, or portability of your personal data. See our Privacy Policy for full details. You may also lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) at ndpc.gov.ng.
